Flora Watkins - Aqualife Swimming Assistant

I have been part of Aqualife since I was born and I have grown up around the swim school.  I have swum and completed all stages of the swim  program from Parent and Child to through to Advanced Swimmer and now qualified as an STA Aquatic Helper.

I love all things aquatic, from mermaid swimming, snorkelling, boogie boarding and paddle boarding! Outside of the pool I enjoy all sports especially running, horse riding and I’m on my school football team.

I started assisting at Aqualife after covid and developed the “friendly fish” concept where I helped any swimmer who was nervous to come into the pool without their parent to feel comfortable and supported.

Each swimmer chose their own fish and I made up a special story about how the fish could help them in their lesson - they could then take the fish home and bring back to swimming every week.  Seeing how this really helped so many of our young swimmers it really inspired me to want to develop my own teaching skills and support the swimmers and teachers during the lessons and share my love of the aquatic world.

  • STA Aquatic Helper Certificate

Lara Hodges - Aqualife Swimming Assistant

My love of the water started at a young age, and I have been so fortunate to grow up in our Aqualife Family.

I’ve had lessons since before I could walk and have swam in many beautiful places. Growing up in such an Aquatic home, all our family holidays revolve around the water swimming in  mermaid tails, paddleboarding and snorkelling at every opportunity!

When I am not pursuing my interest in Fashion, my favourite place to be is in the pool Assisting Aqualife classes!

I am looking forward to completing my Level 2 teaching qualifications soon, and working as an Instructor for our family business.

Qualifications:

  • STA Level 2 Award for Safety for Teachers

  • STA Safeguarding Children and Young People

  • STA Aquatic Helper Certificate

Isabelle Wright - Aqualife Swimming Assistant

I have always had a passion for swimming and was swimming before I could walk. I have been taught by Aqualife since 2002, and still continue to attend the Junior Lifeguard sessions.

I learnt and competed at a national level as part of a team in synchronised swimming for 3 years, with AquaOaks.

Over the summer holidays I work at a Primary School holiday Sports Club. Working at the Sports Club made me realise how much I wanted to help, encourage and support children to reach their full potential.

When I was given the opportunity to become an assistant with Aqualife I jumped at the chance because it was not only working with children but swimming as well!

When I have completed the Junior Lifeguard Programme, I would like to go on to complete the NLPQ Lifeguard Qualification and become a swim teacher myself!

Qualifications:

  • Working towards Aquatic Helper Certificate

For me, swimming has always been something I loved. Whether it was swimming to raise money for the British Heart Foundation at my school or just splashing around in the pool on holiday, I've always felt at home in the water.

I've swum with Aqualife since I was very young and I believe this inspired me to love the water so much.  I have family in the North of France and I enjoy swimming in the ice cold sea in May!

Another thing I am passionate about is dance and drama, which is something I've been doing since I was 5 years old.

I want to be able to share my love of swimming and hope to inspire others to love it too.

Willow Wakeling - Aqualife Swimming Assistant

I joined Aqualife for Adult and Child swimming lessons when I was two years old, and having swam in regular classes until I started secondary school.

I am now delighted to return as an Assistant.

I have loved swimming with Aqualife as a child, and now really enjoy helping to pass that love of swimming and interest onto the next generation.

My favourite memory in the water was swimming in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland because it was such a unique environment like no other I had been to.

As well as swimming I also enjoy music and playing instruments, and I have grades playing the flute and the guitar.

Qualifications:

  • STA Level 2 Award for Safety Award for Teachers

Eve Dellow - Aqualife Swimming Assistant

My parents introduced me to swimming with Adult and Child lessons at Aqualife when I was 2 years old, as they saw it as an important life skill.

Swimming has remained an important part of my life ever since!

By being taught by Penny, Anna, Gosia, Jesus and the late Kenny Hickey as a small child, has played a big part to get me to the level I swim at today.

When I finished lessons with Aqualife, I moved over to swim competitively at Sevenoaks Swimming Club, where I still am today competing.

I'm so happy to return to Aqualife and help others learn to swim.

Qualifications:

  • STA Level 2 Award in Safety Award for Teachers

  • Working towards the STA Aquatic Helper Certificate
